Aside from winning the confidence of the manufacturer, and local dealerships, becoming a certified facility requires a large capital commitment to purchase the necessary specialized equipment to repair your vehicle to its pre-loss condition. Many shops are not willing or able to make such a commitment to training, equipment, and providing such a high level of service to their customers.
Please be sure that if an insurance company is making recommendations on a facility that they are truly qualified to work on your vehicle. Many insurance companies influence their customers decision to select a facility that is part of their repair network…think of this like an HMO vs. PPO in that there are typically many concessions that are made to save the insurance companies money that leave much to be desired for the customer at the end of the day.
